Amazon is halting some of its diversity and inclusion programs, a move that coincides with activist pressure on U.S. companies to abandon efforts to build a more diverse workforce.

The news of Amazon's DEI program changes comes after Meta announced plans to completely scrap its own DEI program, due to the "legal and policy landscape" in the US. Other corporations outside the tech industry, such as McDonald's and Walmart, are also scaling back their DEI initiatives.

Amazon.com is ending some of its diversity and inclusion programs, the company said in a December memo to employees seen by Reuters on Friday.
