Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket launch was called off on Monday, 13 January, after “a few anomalies” during the mission countdown. The inaugural attempt to reach orbit and compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the satellite launch market was postponed by at least a day.

Blue Origin, the American space company founded by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, called off the first launch of its new rocket early on Monday because of a vehicle issue. The New Glenn rocket was supposed to blast off with a prototype satellite from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Jeff Bezos, founder of Blue Origin, downplays fears that Elon Musk’s ties to President-elect Trump might undermine his company. Bezos believes Musk’s intentions in space exploration are genuine and emphasises the need for a balanced approach to lunar and Mars missions.
