Attorney General Ken Paxton announced an investigation into the Austin Independent School District, accusing the district of teaching banned critical race theory. Paxton claimed that officials in the school district allegedly made statements that indicated the district taught material linked to the 1619 Project,

Attorney General Ken Paxton on Monday said he was seeking to depose the AISD superintendent and school board as part of an ongoing investigation.

The school district called the undercover videos that led to the accusations “heavily edited,” “manipulated” and “grossly misleading.”
