A group keeping the Baltimore tradition of arabbing alive said it had been trying to bring Bilal “B.J.” Abdullah back into the profession before he was fatally shot Tuesday evening,

Bilal "BJ" Abdullah Jr., who was shot and killed by Baltimore police on Tuesday, June 17, was a known "arraber," selling produce on a horse-drawn cart in the city, according to community members.

Baltimore's arabber community is mourning one of their own who was shot by police officers on Tuesday. While city police have yet to release the man's name, friends identified him to 11 News as Bilal Abdullah. Friends and customers alike characterized Abdullah as "one of the good guys" and one of a kind. They knew him as "B.J." for Bilal Jr.
