In 2019, under the previous Trump administration, the State Department instructed missions that the rainbow flag may not be displayed on a “public-facing flagpole.” (Some embassies, such as those in South Korea and Israel, still put up pride flags or banners in public view, but not on poles.)

State Department bans BLM, pride flags from flying at embassies under 'one flag policy'
Pride flags and "Black Lives Matter" flags won't be allowed to be flown from U.S. embassies and outposts under a new Trump policy. The Washington Free Beacon news outlet first obtained a copy of the "One Flag Policy" which says only the American flag can be flown from embassies and outposts.
