Drake has filed to withdraw a pre-trial petition against Universal Music Group and Spotify in Manhattan, sparking reactions on X.

Drake has withdrawn his legal case against Universal Music Group and Spotify in New York Supreme Court. On Tuesday (Jan. 14), Drake's lawyers filed a motion to drop the case against the music giants, who he accused of colluding to artificially inflate Kendrick Lamar's diss song "Not Like Us" in a pre-action petition filed in November.

Back in November 2024, Drake shocked the hip-hop community after be filed a pre-action case against UMG and Spotify. Drake’s accusation of payola and colluding to “artificially inflate” the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “ Not Like Us ” was not taken lightly. Both UMG and Spotify released statement denying Drake’s claims.

The star filed legal actions against his record label and the streamer alleging that they made us listen to “Not Like Us” more than we would.

The notice also notes that Drake’s representatives “met and conferred” with the respondents to the legal action in January. Spotify, which filed an opposition to the petition, responded that it had no objection to the withdrawal. Meanwhile, UMG, which had not filed an opposition to the petition, “reserved its position.”

But when Lamar's "Not Like Us" diss track went viral and topped music charts globally, Drake reacted by alleging Spotify and UMG came up with an illegal scheme to boost the song.
