Two bridges over Interstate 85 in Gaston County were closed early Wednesday morning after they were struck by a vehicle, officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

A bridge over I-85 in Gaston County will be closed “until further notice” after a crane hit it Wednesday morning, officials said. The crane was reportedly on a truck when it hit the Belmont-Mount Holly Road bridge,

A crash in Gaston County caused major delays on southbound Interstate 85 in Belmont, police said. The crash happened on I-85 South at exit 26 for Mount Holly Road around 7:30 a.m. Officials said a crane truck hit the overpass on I-85.
