CHELSEA, Mass. — The Trump administration is reportedly expanding the powers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The New York Times reports a new memo signed by the head of the Homeland Security Department appears to allow ICE agents the ability to quickly deport migrants allowed into the United States by two Biden-era programs.

WASHINGTON—The Trump administration is attempting to amass a larger force of law-enforcement officials to help carry out deportations by granting agents across the federal government the same powers as an immigration officer,

The Department of Homeland Security gave the green light for law enforcement to make arrests at sensitive locations like schools or churches, which were off limits under previous administrations. Bridgeport Public Schools was the first district in the state to take preemptive action if ICE shows up at their schools.
