An Ivory Coast court’s decision to remove Tidjane Thiam from the voters’ roll effectively disqualified the former Credit Suisse chief executive officer from this year’s presidential election, raising the risk of political instability in the world’s biggest cocoa-producing nation.

An Ivory Coast court ruled Tuesday that Tidjane Thiam, a former CEO of Credit Suisse, is ineligible to run for president because of his dual Ivorian-French nationality, according to a lawyer representing him.
