The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 14th in the SEC standings with three weeks left. Mississippi State will have to win at least six of the final nine games with seven more wins for the postseason. That's a tall hill to climb for this team.

Throughout Auburn’s three losses to Texas and its 1-0 midweek win over Georgia Tech, one glaring problem was the inability to take advantage of opportunities with runners on base.

On Saturday night, the No. 11 Auburn Tigers managed to score more runs than in their 6-5 Friday night game one win over Mississippi State. The bad news is they gave up a lot more runs in a 12-7 loss to tie the weekend series at 1-1. The Tigers entered the seventh inning down 10-3 and attempted to rally for a comeback. It fell short though.
