The nearly two-week strike hobbled the largest U.S. ski resort during a busy holiday period and sparked online fury about deepening economic inequality in rural mountain areas.

Ski patrollers at the biggest U.S. ski resort say they have reached a deal with Utah’s Park City Mountain Resort to end a strike that put a wrench in operations during the busy holiday season.

The 204 workers ended their strike with a $2 wage increase to the base pay to $23 an hour and an average $4 an hour wage increase for more experienced workers.

Strike centers on more than starting wages, as holiday pay, health coverage pay and increases based on experience and inflation at issue. Park City Mountain Resort’s longstanding image as a premier ski and snowboard destination in the United States is taking a hit as a contentious ski patrol strike drags into a second week.

The day after the two councilors joined the picket line, Park City Mayor Nann Worel and the city council issued a joint statement calling on Park City Mountain owner Vail Resorts “to take immediate action” to end the strike, citing “confusion and disruption” around town.

News of the agreement between Park City and its ski patrol union came after a lot of back and forth between the two parties. Much of it in the public eye.

The lawsuit accuses Vail Resorts “intentionally and willfully deceived hundreds of thousands of consumers.” The ski patrol strike at Park City Mountain, Utah, is over, but now a lawsuit has been filed against Vail Resorts for allegedly not disclosing the strike's impacts.
