The Sensex hit an intraday low of 76,535.24 in early trade, and was down 437.23 points to 76,941.68 at around 11:22 am. At the same time, the Nifty50 was trading 161.85 points lower at 23,269.65.

According to the NSE provisional data, the domestic institutional investors had invested Rs 3,961.92 crore in the stock market on Friday, which is more than FIIs selling of Rs 2,254.68 crore. But commoners are wondering why the stock market is falling as today marks the fourth consecutive decline in the Indian equity market.

Zomato led the Sensex losers, falling 1.75 per cent to Rs 238.75. Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, HDFC Bank, Axis Paints, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel and ITC fell over 1 per cent each.
