ATLANTA — The game between the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks scheduled for Saturday has been postponed because of a winter storm. The NBA said the decision was made “to prioritize the safety of the players, fans and staff due to the severe weather and hazardous icy conditions in the Atlanta area.”

The Houston Rockets were scheduled to play the Atlanta Hawks Saturday afternoon at State Farm Arena, a key matchup between one of the Western Conference's top teams and a squad battling for an Eastern Conference playoff spot.

"Temperatures remain below freezing across much of the area. Slick roads and areas of black ice will continue through the morning. Please use caution if you have to be out on the road or delay travel until temperatures warm. Slow down, use caution, and travel only if necessary this morning," states the NWS Morristown TN.

An updated winter storm warning was issued by the NWS Blacksburg VA on Friday at 12:36 p.m. valid from 1 p.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. The warning is for Ashe, Alleghany, Surry, Stokes, Rockingham, Caswell,
