The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for today calls for up to an 80 percent chance of precipitation before sunset, and up to 100 percent chance of heavy rain at night.

The rain was expected to continue into Friday, Feb. 14. Advisories issued by the National Weather Service include: • A flood watch for most of the Bay Area from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 p.m. Saturday. • A high wind watch for most of the Bay Area from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Friday.

A strong storm and atmospheric river on Thursday will bring heavy rain, strong winds and dangerous surf. It will be a Level 3 strong storm on the ABC7 Exclusive Storm Impact Scale. A Flood Watch and High Winds Watch will be in effect all day.
