Tahaad Pettiford assisted on Dylan Cardwell’s go-ahead dunk and converted two free throws with 4.4 seconds remaining as No. 2 Auburn overcame an injury to leading scorer Johni Broom and rallied to beat South Carolina 66-63.

The last time Auburn had cause for concern was in December when Johni Broome exited the Tigers’ 100-59 win over Georgia State due to a shoulder injury. He returned the next game to score 23 points and secure 11 rebounds in Auburn’s 87-69 win over Purdue in Birmingham on Dec. 21.

Auburn’s Johni Broome will not return in Saturday’s game against South Carolina. Broome went down with an ankle injury at the start of the second half. The Preseason All-American’s left foot came down on a teammates leg while grabbing a rebound in traffic. Broome was helped off the court and could not put any weight on his left ankle.
