“Conclave” leads the pack of 2025 BAFTA Film Awards nominees with 12 nods, one more than “Emilia Pérez,” which had appeared on the most longlists (15) when they were announced on Jan. 3. Mia McKenna-Bruce and Will Sharpe announced the 2025 nominees live on Wednesday in London.

The Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci-led film, based on the novel by Robert Harris, leads the way with 12 BAFTA nominations — ahead of Emilia Perez ‘s 11 and The Brutalist ‘s nine, as unveiled by actors Will Sharpe and Mia McKenna-Bruce from the British Academy’s headquarters in London mid-day on Wednesday.

Announced on Wednesday by last year’s BAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce and Will Sharpe, star of “The White Lotus” (and also a BAFTA TV award winner in 2020), the nominees have been selected following two rounds of voting by BAFTA members.

She lauded the list of nominations, particularly its variety, noting that six different genres were represented on the best film list. She also highlighted that 14 of the 24 nominations in the acting categories were first-timers, and that whoever wins the best actress award will be a first-time BAFTA winner.

The nominees for the 2025 EE BAFTA film awards are being unveiled in London on Wednesday. Actors Will Sharpe and Mia McKenna Bruce are revealing the coveted shortlists at 12 p.m. GMT (4 a.m. PT) in a livestream from the U.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the 2025 EE BAFTA Rising Star Award, the only award voted for by the public, would be contested between David Jonsson, Marisa Abela, Mikey Madison, Jharrel Jerome and Nabhaan Rizwan.

The comedy biopic Kneecap has been nominated for six British Academy Film Awards including Outstanding British Film and Best Screenplay.
