The Boston Red Sox have traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for right-hander Jordan Hicks, left-hander Kyle Harrison and prospects James Tibbs and Jose Bello, the Giants and Red Sox announced Sunday.
During his introductory news conference with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, Rafael Devers declared something in Spanish that the Boston Red Sox wished they could have heard from one of the game's elite hitters.
The deal also included outfielder James Tibbs III, last year’s first-round selection, and 20-year-old right-hander Jose Bello. Despite Devers’ talents, the Giants kept Bryce Eldridge, their top overall prospect, and left-hander Carson Whisenhunt, their top pitching prospect.
NL West rivals clash on Sunday as the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers (42-29) host the second-place San Francisco Giants (41-30).
The San Francisco Giants may have this injured veteran back in their rotation soon as he keeps progressing in rehab.
