Thursday’s court injunction temporarily blocked the Trump administration from requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote.

UNITED STATES – Oregon Secretary of State, Tobias Read, met with election officials from around the country and the U.S. Election Assistance Commission Thursday. He says a recent executive order to overhaul elections was a significant focus of the conversation.

The races are nonpartisan. However, two political action committees are largely funding opposing slates of candidates for each open seat.

Voters will decide measures including a livability levy in Salem, a $140 million community college bond, and four Salem-Keizer school board seats.

The deadline to register to vote in the May special election is fast approaching. Your voters registration must be up to date by Tuesday, April 29. In odd numbered years, May elections are often set aside to select representatives for local districts like school boards and library districts.
