An Argentine court has started its trial of seven healthcare professionals accused of negligence in the death of soccer great Diego Maradona at age 60.

The case centers on claims of negligent care during his recovery from brain surgery, with prosecutors arguing his death was preventable.

The trial for the death of Diego Armando Maradona began on Tuesday after two suspensions and more than four years since his passing.

The case revolves around allegations that negligence by the health care professionals contributed to the World Cup winner’s death in 2020 at the age of 60.
