A crash has closed a portion of I-96 in the Grand Rapids area, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. MDOT officials closed all lanes of eastbound I-96, after the Alpine Avenue exit,

A Grand Rapids three-year-old was shot and seriously injured over the weekend, police said. Officers were called at about noon Saturday to a home in the 700 block of Sinclair Avenue for a report of a shooting involving a child, they said.

At 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 800 block of Griggs Street SE, near Eastern Avenue SE. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found an active fire burning at the house.
