Women’s professional hockey arrived in the Centennial State this weekend. The culmination of the PWHL Takeover celebration was a 4-2 victory for the Minnesota Frost against the Montreal Victoire at Ball Arena. The 14,018 fans set an American attendance record for a women’s professional game.

The league had previously set the record at a neutral-site game between Ottawa and Boston in Detroit (13,736) last season. But Sunday night’s draw of 14,018 fans at Denver’s Ball Arena – home of the NHL ’s Colorado Avalanche and NBA’s Denver Nuggets – is now the largest crowd to watch a pro women’s hockey game in the U.S.

A young Hayden Pike thought he had hockey figured out. Having just attained the strength to consistently lift the puck and aim for the top corners of the net, Pike was primed for roller-hockey glory in his Lakewood neighborhood.

While Vancouver fans will have to wait for a potential PWHL team, fans on the West Coast made it clear a franchise would be well-supported. 19,038 fans watched the Victoire take down the Sceptres on Wednesday. That number of fans makes Vancouver's Takeover Tour crowd the third-largest in PWHL history.
