The first-ever drone show in San Jose was held at Lake Cunningham instead of the annual fireworks display. The drone show was put together at the minute after several cities learned their supply of fireworks were destroyed in the massive warehouse fire in Yolo County.

That message seemed to reverberate as much as ever as the United States marked the year before its 250th birthday, even amid an undercurrent of uncertainty. Some who were at the parade talked about their mixed feelings celebrating America, even as Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” blared on the speakers.

The explosion at the fireworks warehouse in Yolo County caused the cancelation of a number of 4th of July fireworks shows, including one in San Jose.
