Snow, sleet and freezing rain – there are three main types of winter precipitation, and Oklahoma is no stranger to any of them. The winter storm that crossed Oklahoma in the early morning hours Wednesday had the potential for all three, and Oklahoma City residents woke up to a thin layer of icy pebbles on every surface.

Snowflakes started falling across the Willamette Valley this morning — dusting roads, plants and backyard furniture with white flurries. As cold weather moves across the state, much of Oregon is under winter storm or weather warnings from the National Weather Service through Friday.

Maine's Total Weather says areas in southern Maine will be dealing with a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain for the next several hours.
