Trans people comprise a scant portion of athletes, at all levels, but the drive to bar them from participating in competitive sports has never been about numbers.

A Montana House bill would require transgender people to use public bathrooms that align with their sex assigned at birth.

The bill claims that “there are exactly two sexes” and would restrict the use of bathrooms, changing rooms, and sleeping areas in public buildings based on that definition.
