Parts of the Northeast woke up to more than a foot of snow Sunday morning, as a fast-moving winter storm, packing snow, sleet and ice, sped across the Midwest into the Northeast late Saturday through Sunday morning.

A mix of snow and ice blanketed a large swath of the northern U.S. over the weekend, after a major winter storm hit parts of the Upper Midwest, the Great Lakes region and the Northeast.

Snow will continue to fall Saturday morning following overnight flurries, giving way to a dry and cold rest of the weekend.
