Update: Nearly fully contained – Hawick Fire in San Diego County now at 90%
Hawick Fire initially started 3:31 p.m. June 19 in San Diego County, California. After being active for 15 hours, it has burned 51 acres. A fire crew of 14 has been working on site and they managed to contain 75% of the fire by Friday morning. The cause of it remains under investigation.
Cal Fire Captain Robert Johnson said about 10 structures were threatened, but none had suffered any damage as of late Tuesday night. Evacuation orders are still in place.
The fire was reported Tuesday afternoon, June 17, near El Monte Rd in Lakeside in East San Diego County and quickly led to evacuations for nearby residents.
