Jurors in the Karen Read trial are deliberating for a fourth day inside Norfolk Superior Court as they attempt to reach a verdict in the high-profile case. The deliberations come a day after the jury indicated in a question to Judge Beverly Cannone that they could be facing the possibility of being a hung jury on one charge.

Jurors in Karen Read’s murder retrial asked four questions about a hung jury, evidence, and charges listed on a verdict slip during the second full day of deliberations on Tuesday.

The same issue arose at Read’s first trial: multiple jurors, in the wake of Cannone declaring a mistrial, reported to Read’s defense that they agreed to acquit her on two of the three counts, but they didn’t know they could return a partial verdict. That led to a lengthy appeals fight that was appealed to but not taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court.
