Dec 31, 2021 · The BR primers did shoot a tad better, but not a ton. maybe 0.10 of an inch. That can be a difference maker in some Bench Rest shooting though. Here is a target from a competition I was in last year. Got beat by 0.03". This group measured at 0.330". This load used CCI Small Rifle Bench Rest primers.

Sep 14, 2008 · Is there any reason Green Dot powder cannot be used in a 45-70 rifle cartridge? Experimenting with 13 grains of green dot with a 405 grain bullet in a 45-70 rifle, the load chroned at 1350 FPS. The recoil was minimal and the shell showed no distortion. Chamber pressure is the unknown? Any thoughts please?

Jan 16, 2019 · Seemed fitting. We had 14 of us go last trip. Rifles ranged as follows 270, 280,308,300wm, 338wm,375 h&h and ruger. With doubles in some and three 300’s. Rest were bows and a muzzle loader. All had one shot kills but three animals out of 47. Most used Barnes bullets. Find a rifle your comfortable with and practice off shooting sticks.

When I see 257 Bob I think 257 Roberts which is a 7x57 necked down to. 257 this case staying below maximum loads can easily push a 105 grain bullet to 3000fps which makes for a wicked reception on ...

Remember you are talking about a 30” (approximately) cloud of shot several feet long. Rifle projectiles cross the line of sight twice, once feet from the muzzle and again many yards down range, like hundreds.

Nov 17, 2018 · While zeroing at the range from a bench rest and mechanical rest, we noticed that the point of impact changed significantly between 3X and 9X. He commented that the clarity and brightness of the scope were very inferior to a my 3X9 Leupold and he agreed that the point of impact remained nearly the same as the magnification changed with the Leupold.

Apr 1, 2015 · From a bench rest, aim (focus on the front bead), and squeeze the trigger. In the OP's case if the gun shoots to the right with the beads aligned the barrel and/or chokes needs to be addressed. I tried shooting a gun adjusted to shoot straight by a few inches, but having to make sure the beads are misaligned but so much was very distracting.

Jun 23, 2023 · Speed kills, move gun to target, go through target, break target. And all this can be done with nothing more then a off shelf shotgun and the target does not care what barrel length. To get hung up on barrel length for shotgun, this sounds like a bench rest rifle match shoot. Shoot what fits, Shorter, quicker, better.

Jul 5, 2009 · Unless you are shooting the gun from a bench rest and verifying that the beads are aligned both before and after the shot, your results may indicate a gun fit problem and not a gun construction problem. Have one or more other people shoot the gun from a rested position to see if it produces the same result for them. Carol Lister
